process

drawing to delivery, four steps.

No middlemen and no mystery. Your file goes from quote to cut on the same floor, checked at every stage by the people running the machine.

01
quote
Upload a DXF, DWG or STEP. Price comes from the true cut length, pierces and material, not a guess.
02
nest
Parts nested for yield, lead-ins and micro-tabs set so edges stay clean and parts stay flat.
03
cut
Fibre laser holds ±0.1 mm across the sheet. Burr-free edges, tight internal radii, crisp detail.
04
finish
Deburr, fold and powder coat in house. Parts arrive ready to fit, not ready for more work.

faq

the usual questions, answered straight.

01

What file formats do you accept?

DXF, DWG or STEP. STEP is welcome for parts modelled in 3D; the flat profile is taken from it. If all you have is a PDF or a sketch, send it anyway - simple profiles can be redrawn, and any redraw time is agreed before it is added to the price.

02

What materials and thicknesses do you cut?

Mild steel up to 15 mm, stainless steel up to 12 mm, aluminium up to 10 mm, brass up to 6 mm and copper up to 4 mm. Minimum thickness is 0.3 mm across the range, on sheet up to 3 x 1.5 m.

03

Do you supply the material, and can I supply my own?

Both. Through our network of suppliers we cut mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper, and you are welcome to supply your own material and we will cut that too. Tell us the material, grade and thickness and we take it from there.

04

Is there a minimum order?

There is a £75 minimum order. One part is a job; small batches are nested onto the next appropriate sheet so you are not paying for material you do not use.

05

How fast is turnaround?

Turnaround is from 24 hours. We quote within one working day, and lead time is 1 to 3 working days depending on the complexity of the job.

06

What tolerance can you hold on 3 mm stainless?

Plus or minus 0.1 mm as standard. If a feature needs tighter, flag it on the drawing and we confirm before cutting.

07

How much does laser cutting cost in the UK?

It depends on material, thickness, cut length and quantity, so shops quote per job. At OneLaser the minimum order is £75, small batches are nested onto shared sheets to keep material cost down, and uploading a DXF, DWG or STEP gets you a firm price within one working day - no site visit, no back and forth.

08

What is fibre laser cutting, and why does it matter?

Fibre lasers deliver the beam through an optical fibre rather than mirrors, giving a smaller spot, faster cutting in sheet metal and the ability to cut reflective metals like brass and copper that older CO2 machines struggle with. OneLaser runs a 3kW fibre source with a kerf from 0.15 mm.

09

Where are you based, and where do you deliver?

We cut at D86 Princesway North, Team Valley, Gateshead NE11 0TU - minutes from Newcastle. Parts are collected from the Team Valley unit or delivered across Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and the wider North East, with carriage UK-wide.
